Why Do I Still Have Mosquitoes After Treatment?
Three usual suspects — and what to ask your provider before you just re-spray.
You paid for treatment and the mosquitoes are back. Frustrating — but usually explainable. There are three common culprits.
1. An untreated breeding source
A barrier spray targets adult mosquitoes resting on vegetation. If there's still standing water breeding new ones — a clogged gutter, a saucer, a neighbor's untended pool — they'll keep appearing regardless.
2. Rain reset the clock
A good rain can reintroduce puddles and larvae days after a treatment. Populations often rebound a few days after wet weather.
3. The application naturally broke down
Barrier applications don't last forever; they degrade over time and weather. That's why seasonal programs revisit on a schedule.
If mosquitoes keep returning, ask your provider to re-inspect for a source rather than simply spraying again. A missed breeding site is the most common reason treatments 'don't work.'
